ไม้ก้านฝ้าเป็นแท่งไม้ขนาดพอประมาณ วางยึดติดกับก๋อนในแนวตัดกัน โดยตีไม้เว้นระยะช่องว่างให้พอเหมาะกับขนาดความยาวของแผ่นหลังคา ซึ่งเป็นโครงสร้างสำคัญของเรือน มีหน้าที่ยึดติดหลังคา (หลังคาตองตึง หลังคาหญ้าคา หลังคาแป้นเกล็ด และหลังคาดินขอ)

Wood roof constructions are medium-size wood sticks which are attached to one another with nails in cross section.
